    The etymological meaning of 'Chad' that is given in many popular dictionaries is a piece of paper that is believed to be removed when we punch a hole in a paper tape or a card. But whenever the term is used the person listening to it will think that you are talking about the country with the same name.
           
    Chad is a country located in the Central Africa and is landlocked. It is surrounded by Libya in the north, Sudan in the east, Cameron and Nigeria in the southwest, Central African Republic in the south and Niger in the west. Chad has the distinction of being in the group of world's top ten failed states in foreign policy parameters. Because of the desert climate, the country is often termed as 'dead heart of Africa'.

      The name Chad is a masculine name. It has been in usage in English. It is derived from the old English name that is Ceadda that has an unknown meaning. This may be considered to be based on the Welsh cad battle. It has also been the name of a saint of the 7th century.

      Chad is officially referring to the Republic of Chad. It is a country that is landlocked in the Central Africa. It is listed as one of the world's failed state as stated by the Foreign Policy. On the north, it borders Libya, towards the south west, it borders Nigeria, to the east, Sudan is bordered by it, the Central African Republic borders to the south, and to the west Niger and Cameroon. It largely has the desert climate.
