Battle of Uhud was one of the wars that was fought between the Quraysh and the Muslims. It was fought on 19 March 625 according to Gregorian calender and 3 Shawwal 3 AH according to Islamic Calender.

The location for the war was Mount Uhud, that is why the battle was named Uhud. The Quraysh were led by Abu Sufyan Ibn Harb and the Muslims were led by the Prophet (S.A.W) The strength at the Muslim side was 700-1000 infantry and only 2-3 cavalry whereas on the Quraysh front there was 3000 infantry and 200 cavalry.

Muslims suffered many losses and this battle was a set back for them. However, this setback was soon recovered through the battle of Trench.
