When Was Henry VIII Flag Ship The Mary Rose Recovered?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Mary Rose was built during the first year of Henry V111 reign. He was 18 year old at that time and England was continually at war with France. Mary Rose was Henry's flagship and it was capsized in its maiden voyage itself. It was leaving for its fight with the French in 1545. It was recovered in the year 1982 at Portsmouth along with several other things dating back to the 16th century. They give a very interesting and vivid picture about the life at sea during all those years ago. These things along with the ship are kept for display at Portsmouth Historic Ships, the city's dockyard. Some of them are also found at the Royal Naval Museum. Visits to these sites are worthwhile and interesting.
