It all depends on the activity of the volcano. Kilauea is still erupting, and Mt Baker is still dormant. There are many volcanoes waking up as others are silencing.

Well we dont really know because its usually when the tectonic plates collide( crash together ) when rock is melted the rises to create a volcano the erupts when there s too much pressure.
