Here are some of mine that can keep you entertained for hours.wwwhowthingswork is wonderful for telling you all kinds of things you want to know.
Then I like the www.telegraph.com web site which is a British newspaper but so much more, and has blogs and forums on everything from computers to travel and family life.
Then theres wikipedia that can quickly help you find a lot of information about a subject.

www.distantbrits.com for online shopping when you are missing all those things you can't get in your new country.

Then theres www.macosx.com for mac users with all the questions that could be answered about getting your computer to work.
www.salon.com for good writing, current events and reviews.
www.thenewyorktimes.com for the same reasons.
Then italyexpat.blogspot.com about being an immigrant.
There are many sites you can use and look up including blurtit which is useful and addictive.
