How Can I Become An Astronaut?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

    The answer is simple: pay!

It's a good time to be a budding astronaut. Since the dawn of the space age, superpowers such as the former Soviet Union and the United States of America have enjoyed an unrivalled monopoly of space.

Now - for just £107,000, those with the readies can book themselves aboard Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic. Starting 2010, Virgin Galactic is scheduled to commence weekly flights to the staggering altitude of 360,000 feet – that's nine times higher than a passenger jet cruises and 30,000 feet higher than the internationally recognised 'border' of space.

Incredibly Virgin Galactic doesn't look like being the only 'spaceline' rocketing off into the void in near future. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos recently presided over the test flight of New Shepard, a revolutionary spaceship that could soon be lofting passengers with a similar regularity to Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipOne.
