What Was The Oldest Mythical Creature That Was Ever Created?

Just offhand, I would say Homer's sirens from the Iliad but even that might be predated by Medusa with the snake hair, really hard to say, Greek and Roman mythology was filled with awesome creatures, and I am sure bards and storytellers have been talking about fanciful beasts since the dark ages. Really a fascinating subject. My wife leans towards the cyclops....but then who really knows?
