The first step to holding a paintball marker properly is with two hands. Depending on the air source used (CO2 or Compressed Air) the styles vary slightly. For the purposes of this we'll discuss CO2: While gripping the trigger frame with your strong hand, use your off hand and grab the fore grip (the vast majority of markers nowadays will have something to hold onto up front). With the marker in both hands take the tank of the marker and place it just above your armpit in the 'pocket' between your strong arm and torso - do not stick the tank in your armpit. With those three contact points: Left hand, right hand and 'pocket' move your strong arm nice and vertical so your arm doesn't look like a chicken wing. This allows you to present a smaller profile when coming out to the right side of an obstacle, lessening the chances of you being marked.For shooting off handed (if you plan on playing regularly do not neglect this skill) reverse your hands and place the tank in the 'pocket' of your weak arm.
