What Legal Right Do I Have To Get My Money Or The Car Back?

Repossession Of A Private Vehicle Sale. I Verbally Agreed To Buy A Car From A Friend. I Paid More Then 1/2 The Agreed Amount. The Pink Slip And Registration Were Both Put Into My Name. I Did Not Speak To This Person Regarding Our Agreement. He came an took the car in the middle of the night. He wants all the money before returning the car. I do not have it, I told him to return the money I gave him and he said he does not have to.

You are the legal owner since the pink slip and registration were put in your name. The correct thing for your "friend" to have done was to ask for the money and then take you to small claims court for the money you owe him. You can call and report the car stolen since the pink slip is in your name.
You should always have contracts in writing. And it's never a good idea to do business with a friend.

Go to the police and lead them to your car that was stolen. If your name is on the paperwork, and you have the paperwork, it is your car to physically keep. It is his job to get the rest of the money from you, either by you paying it our thru small claims court. Don't tell him what your plans are, as he may move the car. Have police show up, review situation, and either you drive it away or they can have it impounded as evidence. DO IT!
