Can You Give Me Some Recipes Using Tofu?

    Tofu is a Chinese recipe and a versatile in nature. It is also called Doufu. It is low calorie and low fat food. It is made by thickening Soya milk and hence by pressing the curds into soft-cheese like blocks.

    Because of its versatility in using, it can be used both in vegetarian and non-vegetarian recipes. Here is one vegetarian recipe, named 'Tofu 'N Tomato on Rice' for you to go through. To prepare this dish, you must need 10 ripe red sliced tomatoes, 1 large chopped onion, several cloves of garlic, 1 cup of white wine, 1 red chopped bell pepper (this is not mandatory, but certainly bring a great addition to taste), 5-6 sliced green chili and last but most importantly ˝ block Tofu (pieces).

    Now put the onion and garlic in a frying pan and saute them in white wine. Now add the sliced tomatoes and tofus into it and cook it until you find that the tomatoes are nearly ready. At this time, add the chopped bell pepper into it and toss it gently for 2-3minuets. Add the sliced chilies into it. Put some cooked fine rice into a serving dish and make a hole between the pulp of rice. Place the preparation you have just cooked into it. Here is your very favourite 'Tofu N Tomato on Rice' prepared. Taste it now or keep it for an exquisite meal.

      Tofu is low in calories, cholesterol-free and a good source of protein but it hasn't much flavor on its own. When using tofu as an ingredient understand that it isn't going to help make your meal taste better but instead will absorb whatever flavors it is prepared with. Its sort of like white milk and chocolate milk ... Milk is ok on its own but when you mix in chocolate syrup the milk absorbs the chocolate.

        Hi there, here are some tofu recipes. I hope you like them =)

        Grilled tofu quesadillas Recipe

        Ingredients:

        1 package flour tortillas

        1 package tofu

        2 medium onions, sliced thin

        2 tomatoes, thinly sliced

        Guacamole (for garnish)

        Monterey jack cheese, shredded

        Salsa (for garnish)

        Directions:

        Grill tofu on a barbecue grill or in a skillet until brown and crisp.

        Slice into thin pieces. Sauté onions in a little olive oil until

        caramelized. Warm tortillas on both sides in a large skillet. Layer

        pieces of tofu, onions, cheese and sliced tomatoes on half of the

        tortilla. Fold over the other half. Heat on both sides until brown and

        crisp.Cut into three wedges.

        Chinese-style sauteed tofu Recipe

        Ingredients:

        1 1/2 teaspoons salt

        1 tablespoon cornstarch

        1 tablespoon hot bean paste

        1 tablespoon minced garlic

        1 teaspoon granulated sugar

        1 teaspoon minced ginger

        1 teaspoon sesame oil

        1/2 cup soup stock

        2 tablespoons water

        3 ounces ground pork

        4 (3-inch square) pieces tofu

        4 cups oil

        Directions:

        Chopped green onions (for garnish)Cut tofu into 1 1/2-inch square pieces, then cut each piece into 2 triangles. Pat dry. Heat oil in a wok or large skillet. Fry tofu until golden brown. Remove tofu from pan and remove oil, leaving only 2 tablespoons. Add ground pork to skillet; fry until pink is gone. Add bean paste, garlic and ginger. Add soup stock, then add browned tofu. Cover and cook over low heat for 2 minutes.Add salt and sugar; bring to a low boil. Make a paste of cornstarch and water; add to mixture and stir until thickened.Serve garnished with green onions.
