Are There Any Rainforests In Mexico?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Yes there are rainforest in Mexico. They lie on the south-eastern Mexico along the Gulf of Mexico and the state of Chiapas. However, these forests are endangered by man survival activities such as fuel wood collection and land clearing for agriculture, using fire. These forests in early years were known as Virgin forest. Today this place receives a lot of conflicts in terms of contribution to forest destruction by displacing deprived surviving farmers, while military movements by the army and rebel services have besmirched forest areas. Even unlawful logging and poaching are extensive in Mexico.

However, in recent years government and environmentalist have taken huge steps in order to reduce pollution and misuse of forest land. They have also started various programmes for the growth of plantations to step into the shoes of natural forest use.
