Will Broadband Allow Us To Update The Company Web Site?

Answer Question

Broadband will certainly speed up the whole process of updating web sites. It won't, obviously, enable you to do so per se, you will need some form of content management system.

There are a number of web applications and software solutions now that allow web site owners, with the bare minimum of knowledge, to edit and create new web pages while retaining the overall integrity of their site.

One of the most popular software packages for self publishing is Macromedia Contribute. It is a brilliant piece of software that is a cross between a web browser and word processor. If you can use Internet Explorer and MS Word, you should have no problem picking up Contribute. It is an incredibly user-friendly, yet powerful, publishing system that enables web site owners and other authorised users to update rapidly their web site without the need to nag their web development company to merely put up a paragraph of text, a picture or add a link.

While all of this was possible with dial up access, the process could often be slow and painful. The advent of broadband has at last made DIY web publishing practical and time-efficient.

Broadband will not help you update the company website as such, but it will make the transfer of information and code considerably quicker.
