How To Host A Great Birthday Party For A Toddler?

My son has just became 3 and I would like to make a great birthday party for him. I particularly need ideas about what kind of food and games he and his pre-school classmates could enjoy. Last year they didn't eat at all. Help please!

First of all ,the location of a birthday party is very important. As toddlers are full of energy and enthusiastic, they like to move freely here and there.Considering this, the location should be an open area. Then ,they like colours,so the arrangement should be colourful. For example you can use colourful balloons and ribbons to decorate the area. The food menu should be colourful too.Now-a-days even cakes are shaped as some cartoon characters. You can provide the little ones with sweets and birthday caps.To create more fun ,you can arrange some games for these children. In this way ,it will definitely be great fun to have.

Thanks for your answer! I'll definitely buy a cartoon cake (Spiderman 3, I afraid). Good idea, even though the party is in the house I'll try to organize some easy outdoor games in the garden if the weather is good!

I have twin sons who are turning 3. We are going to do it at a park. food should be toddler friendly and instead of a lot of sweets y not try fruits pre sliced and crackers... barbeque some hotdogs.. games I feel they're to soon for this age so y not bring balls and just try and have a plan of how things will get done and then parents can stay and play with their kids longer if they choose. I would deffinitly want the parents to come with the little ones

Refering to the above comment,I would like to say,it depends on the choice of these kids what they want to eat.As the guests will include families with kids of different ages,so I guess no one would say 'no ' to chocolates and candies.About the games I mentioned ,I meant for these kids not adults.I guess this concludes my explanation ,If even you are not satisfied ,then it's your party, who am I to interfere into?do whatever you want.

Well I can relate to your plight.  I too have a toddler and his birthday party was a huge success... so much so that even the parents are asking when will the next party be happy.

zWhat you can do is just think colour and creativity... from the cake to the loot bags... For toddlers the need enough room to romp and play safely so you need to first choose an appropriate location. Next with your decor you need to choose a theme that you child loves like his favourite action figure or cartoon character. You may also want to have a schedule of games that involve all the kids and each game should have a neutral reward for winning by neutral I mean that if its boys and girls at the party you don't exactly want to have the winner (if it's a boy) ending up with a doll.  Also you should choose grab and go food.

Toddlers never keep still and most of them like to run around while they are eating. It may be best if your menu consisted of fun eye catching food that can easily and not clumsily fit into there tiny little hands.  And if your party catered for the loot bags you should make sure that they contain some form of memento that would be interesting for the guest to take home.  Finally a note of caution for a safe party, they are toddlers so my advice would be no deflated balloons nor hard candy as these may pose a hazard of choking.

I think a bbq birthday party would be very nice. Kids love bbq! And of course sweets are also very essential!

Actually, this is really a party for mommies, then for the toddler.  So just invite as many toddler that you want and they can bring their mommies with them...And mommies could share tons of recipe and tons changing diaper style and tons of complain about their daddys not helping. (Anyway, have a healthy toddler cake and candles and don't forget opening gift time).

There are lots of fun games for toddlers to play - here is a site that lists a lot of fun ones.  You can change them to fit your theme.

First, I think you should choose a suitable place to celebrate the birthday party. Next, you should prepare some colorful toys, such as dolls, cartoon pictures and so on, and music maybe is very useful.you can play some children songs at the party.
