How Come If Tomatoes Are A Fruit They Have A Veggie Tax?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The difference between fruits and vegetables is that fruit have seeds and vegetables do not.
Squash, green beans, cucumbers, walnuts are all fruits. However the Supreme Court of
the United States got involved in the tomato fruit - vegetable discussion and ruled in 1893
that tomatoes can be taxed like vegetables. So that is why you see a tax on tomatoes
    in certain areas today.
