Can I Drive My Sons Jeep If I Have Insurance On It, And It Is Titled In His Name?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Any licensed driver can operate the vehicle, unless you are both adults living in the same household and due to policy ratings specifically had one of you excluded from the policy. In this case, if the excluded driver still carried his own policy, he would still be able to drive it.

Example. My adult son still resides in my home, has a sports car, and has had claims against his record. When I bought my car, I had to exclude him as a covered driver from my policy so that I would not have to pay his higher risk rating.  However, as long as he maintains his own insurance, he can still drive my vehicle, because his policy covers him in any vehicle he operates.
