What Safety Tips Do You Have For Driving In Fog?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Fog is a problem in many parts of the country so keep an ear open for weather reports.

If fog is likely to affect your journey always allow more time than normal. It's better to be ten minutes late in this life than decades early in the next.

Make sure that all your vehicle's lights and indicators are clean and working properly. In poor visibility, being seen is as important as the ability for you to see others.

Drive slowly and keep a safe braking distance between you and the vehicle in front. Remember that the road will be damp and greasy even if there's no rain.

Observe warning signs and signals and put on dipped headlights or fog lamps and your windscreen wipers. Rear fog lamps should only be used where visibility is severely reduced. Be aware that bright rear fog lamps can blind drivers behind to your brake lights coming on and remember to switch the fog lamps off as soon as it is safe to do so.

Another tip is to turn off any music and open your window in order to hear what is happening outside.
