Can A Landlord Owning A Triplex In A Rent Control City Arbitrarily Raise One Tenants Rent Without Raising The Other Two? The Same Questin With Both The Annual Reg. Fee And SCE Fee.

I have lived in a triplex in a rent control city. I've been here 14 years. Those in the other two units have been here at least a year. The new landlord bought the building about 12 years ago. I currently pay almost half of what the other tenants pay. Every year since they bought the place, they have raised my rent 3 % until recently when it went to 5%. I also am the only one paying both the annual reg. Fee and the SCE monthly fee. I feel as if I'm being discriminated against.

It depends... If your place of residence is bigger, or has more facilities (etc.) then yes, the landlord can raise the rent for you, and no one else. But if all the houses are the same, with the same facilities, you could sue the landlord... Yes, you are being discriminated if all the residences are the same, so take my advice, and sue his arise off...
