Your injury comes under the slip and fall category and as such you can get compensation for any medical expenses incurred and for the pain that you suffered. The things that one should ensure before making any claims would be whether one had fallen due to one's own negligence or whether one had fallen due to the negligence of the shopping centre authorities. Since the mishap occurred on somebody else's premises your claim would fall under the premises liability claims. As such it is considered to be the responsibility of any commercial establishment to ensure shopper safety and if one fell due to poor lighting, uneven flooring, worn carpets, narrow stairs or any other hazardous circumstance then one has every right to seek compensation. Compensation claims generally are based on the argument that the owner of the premises in spite of knowing about the unsafe conditions did not take any corrective measures. If one is an employee in the shopping centre then in that scenario one can claim worker's compensation as it is considered to be the duty of the employer to maintain safe working conditions.
