You must at least physically check first if there is a DVD drive installed you can see it on the tower itself.
This one it always identifies if there is a DVD writer, first open your DVD ROM insert your DVD-R then go to my computer double click on the DVD-ROM drive if a window pane appears then most probably your drive is capable of writing files......hope it helps have a nice day
