Who Really Is Robin Hood?

Answer Question

Robin Hood  may not have actually existed.  There may have been several characters that were rolled into one to make a good story.  It may well have been used as propaganda.  Behind the whole thing was a hatred of Prince John who was seen to, in effect, have usurped the position of his brother, King Richard (the Lionheart), who wasn't a particularly good King because he spent most of his time overseas.  It's all wrapped in sentimental dreamtime.  Sherwood Forest was pretty huge -- for England -- and stretched way up into Yorkshire and South way beyond Nottingham.  There was a Sheriff of Nottingham -- sheriffs existed all over the country and acted effectively as Governors of their territory.  They owed their jobs to the King and so their loyalty was not questioned.
In the middle of the forest there really is a mighty oak, somewhere between 800 & 1000 years old, and there is room for someone to shelter inside.  I went inside myself nearly 40 years ago: It stank!  You can't get inside now: It has lots of supports to stop it falling over!

There is no real proof.  Many believe is was a Saxon of noble birth.  His loyalty to Richard the Lionhearted was so great he was hated by the powers that be in England.  If he did exsite his defiance to the law was his downfall.    Hence he was a troublemaker , a rebel,  A HOOD.  Ask maid Marian, girls always fall for the bad boys!  You judge for yourself.  Investigate!
