 Obstructive implies "disruptive or unhelpful." The word is an adjective form of the verb "to obstruct." A thing which obstructs usually proves to be an obstacle in the way of progress. Such a thing which causes inconvenience usually delays or postpones an action, which is supposed to be performed within a particular period of time. When an obstructive thing gets in the way, the thing which is obstructed gets hidden away, thus appearing to be invisible.

Here is a sentence with the word obstructive:
The landmines laid out throughout the border valley were an obstructive move on the part of the nation to thwart enemy forces from forging ahead.
