Where Is Wave Rock?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

With the appearance of a wave about to break, Wave Rock is an amazing rock formation found in Western Australia.  Wave Rock is located, approximately, three hundred and fifty kilometres east of Australia's Western coast city, Perth, near the small town of Hyden, in what is known as the Wheat Belt region of Western Australia.  Wave Rock reaches a height of fifteen metres and a length of one hundred and ten metres.  Vertical lines of orange, red, grey and brown colours, caused by falling water carrying minerals such as iron, only add to its' fantastic appearance.  Wave Rock is only one of the amazing rock formations found in the 'Wave Rock Reserve'.  Other rock formations in the reserve include 'Breakers', 'Hippo's Yawn", and 'The Humps'.  Wave Rock, consisting mainly of granite, was formed over years of weathering and water erosion roughly two thousand seven hundred million years ago.
