Do All Airlines Provide Portable Oxygen Concentrator For Patients Who Need It?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Many people need extra oxygen support while they are traveling through air. Some take it because they have the fear of flight, shortness of breath or some take it just to be careful. Nowadays almost all airlines provide the facility of the portable oxygen concentrator and passengers have many facilities to choose from.

Although some airlines charge extra money for the concentrators but they all vary in the different airlines. However oxygen support will not be provided at the airport but inside the plane they always have equipments which are in the form of portable oxygen concentrators.

It is thus very important for a passenger to first check with the airline for the facility of the concentrators and proper information should be taken about the charges as well. This is because every airline has their own policies concerning the usage of the portable concentrators. They would even ask for letter which should be signed by the doctor of the patient in order to allow them to use the concentrator.

In the year 2005, proper permission was granted to airlines for carrying the portable concentrators on board, as previously it was a safety concern. However after proper safety precaution training and manuals provided by the companies, the government allowed the usage of the portable concentrator on flights.
