Enforcement means supervising or putting into action a certain set of rules, which are outlaid as part of a plan, a system or order. A forceful adherence or ensuring the implementation of a certain order is maintained.  This term works commonly in parlance of law and order. It also denotes any compulsory action taken.

The word enforcement is also used while regarding an orderly implementation. Since ancient times man has felt the need to maintain a certain order or discipline. Such authority positions were taken by tribal or village heads who were able to influence others to act in a certain manner. This enabled smooth functioning of society. Soon the reigns shifted from village heads to a few nobles and then later to the modern times where governing authorities are paying the deputed officer a salary to supervise smooth functioning of rules or regulations set by the governing authority.
