The British Empire was so widely spread that it was commonly said that the sun never sets in the British empire. Over a period of many years, the British ruled over many different areas with people having highly diverse politics, cultures, and values. The British controlled man parts of the world for more than two centuries. The main areas under the control of the British were the 13 states of North America, the Subcontinent, Australia, Africa and South America.
