How Hot Is Magma?

Answer Question

Magma Temperatures depend on the composition. If its rich in silica the temperatures range from 750-900 Celsius.(1382- 1652 degrees fahrenheit). If its less rich in Silica, then the temperatures range from 1000-1230 Celsius. (1832-2246 degrees fahrenheit). Komatitic Lavas that are rich in Magnesium and low in Silica erupt at temperatures of 1300-1400 celsius.(2372-2582 degrees Fahrenheit). Sorry Aubbysue... 900,000 degrees fahrenheit is 499,982 celsius. Its impossible to even measure temperatures that high. If 1400 Celsius (2552 degrees fahrenheit) can turn rock into liquid, then 499,982 celsius (900,000 degrees fahrenheit) would melt everything within miles. I use a hugh fire clay and when I fire it, the kiln gets up to about 2400 degrees fahrenheit, turns hardened and previously fired ceramic ware into a soft almost-melting composition, that sometimes warps because of the heat. Great imagination.... Bad (or non existent) research.
