Until 1980s film was the major kind of animated projection. Film equipment includes projector and of course the film itself. Film comes in two different formats. Te word format refers to the films width. The two most common formats are 16-mm and super 8. Your film projector must be compatible with y our film that is 16-mm plays only on a 16-mm projector super 8 only on a super 8 projector. 16-mm film is by far the more common because It is more readily available and superior in quality, especially on a large screen. You might choose super 8 format however if you need to present a film to a small number of people at various locations. Super 8 equipment is more compact, travels more easily and has good quality when projected on a small screen.

The second type of animated projection is the video cassette or video disk. Videos are used for the same purposes as films to show motion. Their biggest advantage over film is that you can easily stop and start them. You can interrupt backspace or freeze a frame to inject comments, ask questions, and answer questions. Other advantages of video include instant development and reusable tape. Depending on your need you may choose one of three video systems a monitor playback, a large screen playback or a recording system.
