Kingwood activity centres are places where schools can arrange to send pupils on residential school trips for up to one week. Teachers from the schools, usually primary schools, accompany the children and help the activity leaders.

The children stay in purpose built accommodation, usually sharing in small groups. The days are filled with activities such as abseiling, aeroball, archery, volleyball, canoeing, climbing, caving, circus skills, fencing, rope work, karting, orienteering, quad biking, snorkelling, swimming and zip wire.

One of the activities, nightlining, teaches sensory (eyesight) deprivation and involves walking through a wood blindfolded, guided by a rope. There are also computers on site with plenty of social activities in the evenings. Food is provided and is hot and filling for the healthy appetites. Discos run on at least one of the evenings and there is a TV room for relaxing.

There are seven centres in the UK at: Isle of Wight, West Runton, Lake District, Overstand, North Wales, Staffordshire and the Peak District.
