Does Landlord Have Right To Hold Personal Property In Lue Of Rent?

Landlord held personal property and will not let us have posession of said property until rent is paid. Has asked for other property to be returned till rent is paid. Can landlords legally do that? State of Colorado

    Yes the landlord has the right to take legal action as well as posession of the property. Thus to avoid such circumstances, you should pay all your rents and make it in writing.

      I don't think so!  Of course I don't know the whole story or how he acquired your stuff, but I would have called the cops.  It's been a while.  I hope you got your stuff back.
