How Do I Start A Small Home-based Business For Lop-Eared Rabbits?

My main concerns I guess are: Will all/most of my supplies for this business be tax deductible? Such as the rabbit feed, rabbit litter, cages, business cards, etc? Although it could be quite a few years until I see a profit - I think just getting these items paid for would be worth it as I have pet rabbits already anyway & am already having to buy a lot of this stuff. I have thought about a name for my business - but how do I make it "official" once I decide? Would I need to apply for a Federal Tax ID # yet?

There are different rabbit breeds that are domesticated. Some are created through dedicated selective breeding and scientific methods of natural selection. The breeds accepted by the American Rabbit Breeders Association or the ARBA are often displayed and judged in special rabbit shows.

In order to start a home based business to breed, buy and sell Lop-eared rabbits, you need to check with the American Rabbit Breeders Association whether you need a license for the venture. If you do, the best move would be to secure one immediately. When getting the rabbits, you should check for inherent diseases and details on the breed. You need to define the space within the home, where you intend to keep the animals. There are detailed guidelines spelt out by the American Rabbit Breeders Association in the guide book called Raising Better Rabbits & Cavies. You can spread the word about your venture via classified ads or by the word of mouth publicity. You need to identify a vet and local breeders, who can be of immense help during the start up.
