Is It Possible To Sell My Home Without Using An Estate Agent?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It is indeed possible to sell your home without using an estate agent and surprisingly it can be cheaper! Estate agents sometimes charge up to 2% of the selling fee and if your home is going to sell for around £200,000 then 2% of that is going to be a lot of money in seller fees! You could really save a lot of that money by simple advertising in local papers, on the Internet and in local shops. It is surprising how many people visit the Internet and just how many people will see your advertisement if it is put up online. You are far more likely to sell your home advertising through the Internet than you are simply putting it in an estate agents window.

Not only will you save money but you will also save a lot of time too. It seems that many estate agents fail to even get a potential buyer to look around the house within the first few months and they do not seem to have much of a rush about them when it comes to actually selling the house. This means that it is often faster t simply do it yourself!

You sell real estate by listing it with a licensed agent. The agent markets the property, seeks qualified buyers, represents the interest of the seller. Trying to sell by owner sometimes works, most often on HGTV or in a fantasy world. The seller is at risk, has no buffer to determine if the caller is qualified to purchase or is planning a break-in after they tour the property with the owner, seeing all their personal items, asking persoanl questions. The level of exposure is small.
