The word "prejudice" means to "pre-judge".  So for example if I visit you in your town where I have never been before and you invite me to the pub I may reply "no the pub is to noisy".  But how do I know that if I have never been to your pub?  The truth is I have pre-judged your pub.  You could also say I have  stereo typed that pubs are noisy.
