Is Starbucks Coffee Really Doing A Fairtrade To Their Bean Farmers?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Starbucks is the world's largest manufacturer of premium quality coffee. Since the beginning of the 1990s, the premium segment of the market has grown immensely. Farmers who produce high quality coffee can expect to receive better prices for their crops from Starbucks.

In a bid to reward farmers for producing high quality coffee beans to match with the standards of Starbucks, the company has adopted the following measures:
    • Paying farmers fair prices and providing them with favorable terms which can coincide with their betterment.
    • Investing in social programs that can be of good use to coffee producing communities.
    • Helping farmers get access to reasonable credit without any hassle.

Starbucks also in addition to paying high prices to the farmer for the produce, also helps the farmers in getting the resources to manufacture high-quality coffee beans. Long term sustainability is the goal of Starbucks. In a bid to align itself with this mission, the company endeavors to keep both its consumers and its producers (read farmers) happy.
