What Is The Third Novel In The "Twilight" Series?

"Eclipse" is the third novel in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. It was published in August 2007.

The novel opens with a series of attacks taking place in Seattle. Edward Cullen, who is a vampire, believes that the attacks are being caused by a vampire that cannot control its thirst for human blood. He and his human girlfriend, Bella, make plans to attend college and Bella tells Edward that she would like to see her close friend, Jacob, again. Edward’s sister, Alice, has a vision that Victoria, a vampire, is back for revenge.

Edward worries about Bella visiting Jacob, as Jacob is a werewolf. Bella tells Edward that Jacob would never harm her and he agrees to let her see him. Later, Edward proposes to Bella and although she is a little doubtful at first, she accepts.
Edward and his family then learn that the attacks in Seattle are being caused by Victoria, who is controlling a gang of vampires. The Cullens team up with Jacob’s werewolf pack to combat the vampires. Edward and Bella hide in the mountains during the battle so that they can wait until it is over.

Jacob, who has feelings for Bella, is distraught over Edward and Bella’s engagement. He tells Bella that he wishes to join the battle so that he can die. Bella kisses him to prevent him from going. Edward’s scent is tracked down by Victoria and he is forced to fight her to keep Bella safe. He manages to defeat Victoria and the rest of her clan is also defeated.

Later, Bella, who has realised that she loves both Jacob and Edward, tells Jacob that although she loves him, her feelings for Edward are much stronger. She tells Jacob that she cannot live without Edward. Edward later invites Jacob to the wedding but he runs away, upset with Bella’s decision to be with Edward and become a vampire.
