Is It Against The Law To Register A Vehicle In Someone Elses Name?

We have obtained a camp trailer that was free. The owner can't find the title and hasn't filed for a lost tilte. He has done this with a motorcycle and boat also. Is it against the law to register it under his name until he gets the title?

People register vehicles for other people's names to get rid of taxes. If you register under his name, it belongs to him (according to law). Good if you really trust him (but I don't recommend). Why don't you file for the lost title and just wait.

According to my knowledge it is not against the law, but when something goes wrong, the law is not in your side. I mean, do it at your own risk. There is a risk that law cannot cover if you go that way.

Just try to contact those people who got that boat and motorcycle, and check for how long they got it that way.

I understand what you mean. If he was to decide that he wanted it back, basically it is still his; anyway the law would be on his side.
