Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A mountain basically is a landform which stretches on top of the surrounding terrain in a limited region. A mountain is usually steeper in comparison to a hill, but till date there is no typical definition for the altitude of a mountain or a hill but a mountain generally has a certain high point.

Mountains can be found all across the world, they cover 54% of Asia, 36% of North America, 25% of Europe, 22% of South America, 17% of Australia, 3% of Africa. And normally one out of ten people reside in the mountainous regions. Nearly most of the world's key rivers are fed from mountain sources. Mountains are usually given as heights beyond mean sea level. The Himalayas usually average 5 kilometres above sea level where as Andes average 4 kilometres above the sea level.
