What Do You Understand By Dust Mites?

Dust mites are minute creatures belonging to the class Arachnida and are related to spiders; dust mites are mostly found in places close to human habitation especially in cotton made things like beds, pillows, sheets and carpets where they are known to thrive. They feed on dead skin that is shed by the human body and are more often found in humid and temperate environments.

One of their hiding places is in layers of dust where they are almost indistinguishable as they are whitish in appearance. Dust mites are one of the major causes along side pollen grains of a number of allergic reactions in human beings which may lead to asthma; the wastes of the mites have been found to cause irritation of the respiratory tract. Vacuuming regularly is an effective way to get rid off dust mites, reducing the humidity in the house by using dehumidifier also effectively control levels of mites in the house.
