It is debatable whether fish actually sleep or not. Since they do not close their eyes. It is thought that they DO at least go into a sort of "resting stage" but since there are some fish species that are nocturnal, it would make sence that if fish DO sleep, they must sleep very lightly to avoid being eaten by some nocturnal fish.
