I got the same thing every year, a pair of slippers, and a barbie doll. I hated barbie, so I never played with it. When you come from a large family, it isn't easy to have all the things that you want, so I never said anything. I was just happy to have my mother.

I would have to say as a child my favorite christmas gift was the year me and my brothers and my parents went to Pennsylvania to visit my grandmother . Especially since about three years later she would leave this earth while visiting us at are home in Virginia.

For me it was a train. My dad bought me a h/o scaled locomotive replica of an old Southern Pacific Railroad engine that puffed real smoke. My dad worked for that particular railroad but I don't believe that was why. As a child I kept that interest and acquired a couple more along the way. Not too sure why I say that the train was it other than that one sticks out in my mind stronger than the rest. As a man now of 44 years, I still can remember the simplistic life and what a simple gesture of giving to a child ..........well, the impact of a memory filled with all the original charged thrill and excitement. Well no, not as when I first found it set up and running throughout our families Christmas gifts, but I do still remember all of the "hooplah" as if it were only yesterday when I ride that memory out. The mind is a very powerful thing, a storage if you will. Thank you for taking me down that road again.
