Can Salmonella Be Transmitted Through Sex?

    Salmonella are gram negative bacteria and can cause food poisoning, typhoid fever and parathyroid fever. Salmonella are not transmitted through sexual fluids, hence are not STD. Their transmission in humans is through eating of contaminated foods. These bacteria are excreted in the feces of humans and animals and contaminate the food and ingestion of such foods cause salmonella infection. Other direct sources of transmission are through pets like dogs, cats, turtles and form animals.
