You're in the same boat as many others, but you can do something about it. If you still want to go out with your friends, you have to do a couple of things. First of all, leave any credit cards you have at home. Do not take them with you when you go out with your friends. Then you set a limit on what you feel you can spend, and take only that amount with you. Not a penny more! Get used to it.

If you get paid by check, you have to go to the bank to cash it. Don't cash the whole thing. Deposit a certain amount in your account every time, and forget about it. In your mind, it doesn't exist. Don't touch until you need it. Try starting an IRA or invest in some way as Aicha suggested. It's never too soon to plan for the future, but it could get too late if you don't. It takes discipline, but you can do it!

The best thing that I do is I place money in three different places. One for bills, one for spending, and the other for emergencies. The money that you do not want to spend would be considered emergency money. If you still find yourself touching this money buy a bank that cannot be opened unless broken. Place the emergency money in the inside. And I guarantee by Christmas of this year you will have a enough money to buy everyone and plus more a gift. Maybe even yourself. Good luck..

Well you have to make a plan and act upon it strictly. You have to put constraints upon yourself. There is no one to blame here. You need patience and determination & consolidation of your vows.

On the other hand if you don't have money you can't go out to spend money. Let yourself know the reality that you don't have anything to spend and if you would have really soon then you will spend it wisely.

Well, I would recommend you to save a little portion of your pay by buying bonds or stocks immediately when you get the pay. This will allow you to save up at least the amount you took out on the first day for these stocks and bonds. And when you need money you can cash upon them instantly.

When you are going out with your friends, take a limited amt. Of money with you. Agree on how much you will save each week and put that money aside diligently. Think of ways to save on expenses so that you will not need to draw on your savings...like low cost meals at home, so you can afford to splurge a little when out . Think of it aqs paying yourself now for something you want in the future. Once you get the hang of it, it will be easy, and fun.

I think if u don't want to open a savings account then you should spend money on things that could be encashed readily. Gold jewellery and electronic gadgets are an example. Gold is better because u tend to get more when the prices go up. Similarly, converting it into pounds or other high value currency also proves useful when the value goes up.

 Your help is this:
Decide what you want. You decide what you want. Not your Sunday school teacher. Not your mother. You. Decide.

Do you want good times or savings? After you decide, act as though you mean it. This is the meaning of personal integrity - your personal behavior should be consistent with your values. If it isn't important for you to have savings, stop whining about it. Accept that you will never be rich. Be happy. Enjoy your friends and your rich social life. Interpersonal relationships mean something and memories can mean more than coins when you get old (if you haven't pickled your brain, ha ha).

If savings are important, stop partying with your friends - or at least do it less often and not extravagantly.

If you don't want to spend a lot you should take only the money you plan on spending, or create a budget for yourself. Keep a restraint on yourself and ask yourself what you really want to buy. If your friends and you are going out to dinner, see if you can all split the bill instead of making one person buy. There are also many places where you can go out with your friends, have a good time, and spend very little money. Maybe next time you have plans you could suggest a place like that.

You know what i do? I would hide the money..or pretend to forget..i sometimes works for me..but not really..here what you should do:
1. Make a plan on how much you what to spend
2. Save the rest!
3. Store it in a piggy bank, and give it to your mom/dad
4. Make sure the piggy bank is one of those ones that you have to break open to get the money
5. Mom/dad won't break it.(cause then they'll have to buy you a new one) there! Did i help?

A very simple thing to do is to get an empty jar or piggy bank. At the end of each day, put all loose change in it. Do this for a few weeks. You will be surprised how fast it adds up. You never miss the change.

Start saving all your change money. When you total is like $2.01 give them $3 instead of the penny. Then save the change in different jars at home. My mother in-law did this and she save enough to make an down payment on a car ($800)

Hide it from yourself. When you make a deposit and enter the amount in your checking register, enter a smaller amount than you deposited. You'll forget about it and next thing you know you'll have a substantial amount of money in there. Then take some out and invest or buy CD's or open a savings account but keep doing it.
