Brentford Football Club was founded in 1889 and the nickname for the club is 'the Bees'.
During the late 1880s it was decided that Brentford Rowing Club should have a winter sport for it's rowers to participate in. Therefore a footballing side was created.

In 1921 they were founder members of the old Third Division South league. However they would eventually reach the top flight of the First Division where they finished in 5th place during their first season in 1935/36. This is the club's highest ever finish. They also reached the FA quarter-finals on four occasions and won the London War Cup in 1942 during the Second World War.

Brentford FC play their home games at the ground of Griffin Park which has a capacity for approximately 12,700 people.

The club currently resides in the League One division and finished in an impressive 3rd place during the 2005/06 season.
