    The city of Deland Florida has a total area of 16.01 miles or 41.6 square kilometres out of which only 0.5 square kilometres or 0.2 square miles is water and the rest is land. Deland is situated in the Volusia County in the State of Florida.

    As per the year 2004 census, total population of the city is 22,857. Deland is also called the "Athens of Florida" and is the county seat of Volusia County. Stetson University in Deland is a famous university in the state of Florida. Down town Deland is a rich historic area called the Garden District. The Garden district has been undergoing some renovation in the recent years. Deland and its surrounding areas were hit by a Tornado on the 2nd February 2007. This tragic event brought this little town into light.
