What Are Some Positive Discipline Techniques For A Very Oppositional Child?

I have tried everything possible to help this child become more socially acceptable and his parents refuse to make it clear to him that he absolutely needs to comply with what he is asked to do.

You need to understand his psychology and treat him accordingly. The child needs therapy according to his mind. Give him incentives to obey you. Give him the incentive of the things which he likes the most. Treat him with love and affection. You might have to be harsh with him, if he so adamant to listen to you.

I have done all of these things! I have a lot of experience to work with. But, his parents are not consistent with him at all. They tell me these stories and I watch them interact...they love him a lot but they almost seem afraid of him. Incentives do not work. They won't take him to therapy. He doesn't respond to love and affection accept with worse behavior...and it's the same no matter how I approach him. I've done everything I've been taught to do and his parents have essentially tied my hands...he has no discipline.

Have you tried instead of disciplining him, giving him something when he does it right (how old is he?)

I have! Like I said...I have tried everything! Everytime he did something right I would reward him. Everytime he did not...I acted like I didn't notice the "bad"and that made him violent. I ended up getting knocked around a bit...scatches all over my face (and up my nose), bruises from where he punched me and pinched me...that kind of thing. This was a 3 year old, now four. It was like he gained superhuman strength in a split second.

You can keep talking to him and let him know how important it is for him to comply humans because he needs that if he wants to be successful in life. He needs to comply with others.
