Drop the tank. Use floor jack to put on tank. Take loose tie straps. Drop just enough to unplug harness and fuel lines and gas inlet(fill tube). Then drop tank to the ground. Take hammer and punch and tap the retaining ring around til it releases. Pull fuel pump out and put new one in. Oh i do not recommend buying carter pumps or you'll be doing this again real soon. They will give you a new one but doesnt pay you for your time.
