First off, it doesn't stay in your system for seven years! Gum doesn't break down, so your body doesn't get any nutritional perks by swallowing it. Instead, it goes in one end...and, well, out the other!

Well I was always told if I swallowed my gum I would grow a gum tree in my tummy! Not so, basically, it's a little difficult to digest because it doesn't break down easily, but in one end and out the other.
