Frederick John Perry won the Men's Singles Championship in 1936 since then no other British man has won the event. John Perry was born in May 18, 1909 and died on February 2, 1995 in Stockport, Cheshire. He was considered by some to have been one of the greatest male players to have ever played the game. From 1934 through 1938 he was the Worlds No. 1 Player; he played the first three years as an amateur player. Taking up tennis relatively late he never played until he was 18. Perry won the Wimbledon's Men's Singles event three years in a row (1934, 1935, and 1936). Since there have not been any British male winners since Perry in 1936 Britain feels the anguish. Since it is the home to the World known Wimbledon Britain is also a joke for not winning in 70 years in its own tournament.
