How Big Is A Bald Eagle?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

An adult female bald eagle, on an average, has a wingspan of about seven feet, which is approximately 2.1 metres. On the other hand, the average wingspan of an adult male is approximately six-and-a-half feet or about two metres.

An adult female bald eagle is also heavier than a male. The average weight of an adult female bald eagle is approximately 12.8 pounds, which is about 5.8 kilograms. On the other hand, the average weight of an adult male bald eagle is approximately nine pounds, which is about 4.1 kilograms.

The smallest species of bald eagles are from Florida (average adult male's weight: five pounds or 2.3 kilograms, wingspan: six feet or 1.8 metres) and the largest are from Alaska (average adult female's weight: fifteen-and-a-half pounds or seven kilograms, wingspan: eight feet or 2.4 metres).

In my back yard in North Fort Myers Florida,  Eagles roost in my Oak and Palm trees.  They fish the stream and small lake and have probably have taken some of my semi-pet Racoons.  One of them is huge and seems to be maybe at least 20 pounds.
