What Is Neo-Aramaic?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Neo-Aramaic,  better known as Modern Aramaic, is basically a language. The term firmly excludes those Aramaic languages that are spoken only as literary, sacred or classical languages in the present day. Western Neo-Aramaic is spoken only in Ma`loula and nearby rural settlements in the Anti-Lebanon; it remains as an eyewitness to western varieties.

The other Neo-Aramaic languages are formed basically in terms of eastern varieties, but with modest homogeneity. Most different in this cluster is Modern Mandaic, which has low-down simplicity with supplementary varieties.
