The Birmingham International Airports has flights to Europe, North America, the Middle East and Southy Asia. It is rated as the sixth busiest airport in United Kingdom after London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester International Airport, London Stansted and London Luton. This airport first opened to operate on July 1939, at Elmdon.
The airport has a full laid future development plan upto the year 2030. The very first step to its development is preparing for the 2012 London Olympics, by extending the main runway.
